Jan. 17th/08 - CEITEC, Brazil's state-of-the-art Center in IC design and manufacturing (www.ceitecmicrossistemas.org.br), and NanoWattICs, have secured funding* for the co-development of an ultra-low-power, 10 bits A/D cell aimed at wireless sensor network nodes (motes) and other portable and implantable electronics. The initiative is also endorsed by the “Julio Ricaldoni Foundation” through the Microelectronics Group, Faculty of Engineering, Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay.
The cell will be fabricated using XFAB's XC06 0.6 microns process, which is compatible with CEITEC's IC fabrication process scheduled to commence operation sometime in 2008.
The created IP will be co-owned by NanoWattICs and CEITEC under terms not disclosed. This cooperation is the starting point of a planned roadmap with CEITEC which calls for several projects in the coming years, bringing sustainably growth for NanoWattICs' business.
